Adlib provided a complete audio infrastructure at HebCelt 2025, maintaining consistent quality for performers and audiences across the site

The Requirement

Held in the unique setting of the Outer Hebrides, HebCelt Festival is a long-running celebration of traditional and contemporary Celtic music. With multiple stages operating simultaneously and a strong reputation for artist experience, audio quality, and operational reliability. The technical delivery must accommodate a wide range of performance styles, while maintaining a coherent sound across all sites.

Adlib was appointed to provide a complete audio infrastructure for the Main Stage, Island Stage, and Acoustics Stage. Each system needed to be robust, touring-standard, and capable of quick changeovers, while maintaining consistent quality for both performers and audiences across the site.

The Solution

Adlib deployed three independent audio systems, each tailored to the specific performance and audience needs of its respective stage. The approach combined high-output CODA Audio PA systems, trusted DiGiCo and Allen & Heath control platforms, and flexible monitoring and RF support.

Main Stage

The Main Stage required a system that could deliver high SPL with clarity across a large audience area. Adlib supplied Coda AiRAY arrays, with eight enclosures per side forming the primary hangs. Each hang was complemented with two ViRAY down fills, and supplemented by front fill (APS) and lip fill (HOPS 8T) to provide coverage right to the barrier line. Subbass was handled by 16 SCP-F subwoofers, with additional SC2-F low-frequency extensions providing punch and depth.

Monitoring was delivered using 12 L-Acoustics X15HiQ wedges, with a single SB18 sub for drum fill. At front-of-house and monitors, a pair of DiGiCo SD12 96 consoles provided control, supported by SD Racks and a spare SD9 for resilience. Two Adlib 60-channel mic split systems allowed for seamless patching across broadcast and monitor positions.

An Adlib Lake control rack managed processing, and all required amplification, mains distribution, and rigging were included as part of the delivery. A standard festival microphone and stand package was provided, alongside a 4-way RF mic system for performers and comperes.

Island Stage

The Island Stage, positioned for mid-size audiences and high artist turnover, was fitted with Coda ViRAY arrays (six per side), supported by HOPS 12T in-fills and HOPS 8T out-fills. Low-end reinforcement came from a mix of SCP-F subwoofers and SC2-F low-frequency enclosures.

Control on this stage was based around Allen & Heath C1500 control surfaces paired with CDM48 MixRacks, giving engineers the flexibility and compact footprint needed for festival conditions. A DX168 stage box provided additional I/O as needed. Monitoring was via L-Acoustics X15HiQ wedges, and the system was patched through an Adlib 48-channel mic split.

The Island Stage setup matched the same technical standard as the Main Stage, albeit scaled to its audience and performance footprint.

Acoustics Stage

The smallest performance area, the Acoustics Stage, was designed for low-volume sets including singer-songwriters and small ensembles. Adlib installed a compact yet high-quality PA system comprising Coda HOPS8T loudspeakers and SC2-F subwoofers, supported by an SQ6 console and two DX168 stage boxes for I/O.

Stage monitoring was handled by Adlib’s 1214 wedge system, offering clarity and volume in a lightweight package. A standard festival mic and stand package was also included.

The Outcome

Adlib’s delivery at HebCelt 2025 ensured that each stage, from the headliner-ready Main Stage to the intimate Acoustics Stage, had a system that matched its technical and creative requirements. The integration of CODA Audio PA systems, paired with trusted DiGiCo and Allen & Heath platforms, enabled seamless handovers between artists, consistent sound coverage, and a positive experience for both audiences and performers.

The festival’s remote location and operational challenges were met through meticulous planning, robust equipment selection, and scalable infrastructure, allowing HebCelt to maintain its reputation for technical excellence and artist-friendly delivery.
