Its elegant interior also demands creative solutions to integrate lighting and video systems without disrupting its aesthetic appeal. These factors make Bridgewater Hall a technically complex but rewarding space for high-profile events like TEDxManchester.
Getting the acoustics right at TEDxManchester was of utmost importance because the event involved some of the most important topics, delivered by speakers who inspired and challenged the audience.
Each speaker brought a unique perspective, delivering talks that left a lasting impression on the audience and made TEDxManchester 2023 an unforgettable experience.

Barco S3 4K Event Master Processor
The Barco S3 is a compact yet powerful video processor designed to manage complex live events. With its ability to handle up to 14 inputs and 14 outputs, it supports native 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. This processor excels in image quality, low latency, and modular expandability, making it ideal for events requiring dynamic video management. At TEDxManchester, the Barco S3 ensured smooth integration of multiple video sources, including live camera feeds and pre-recorded presentations.
Blackmagic ATEM Television Studio Pro HD
The Blackmagic ATEM Television Studio Pro HD is an 8-input live production switcher with an integrated control panel. It features both SDI and HDMI inputs, allowing seamless switching between professional broadcast cameras and consumer-grade devices. This switcher enabled TEDxManchester’s technical team to create polished transitions between speakers and multimedia content.
Chauvet Colorist 36QA
The Chauvet Colorist 36QA is an IP65-rated linear wash light equipped with 36 quad-color RGBA LEDs. Known for its vibrant colour output and precise dimming capabilities, this fixture was used to create dynamic stage washes that illuminated the speakers effectively. Its ability to operate in multiple channel modes allowed the lighting team to customise colour blends and effects that complemented each presentation’s tone.
Chauvet Maverick MK3
The Chauvet Maverick MK3 is a high-output moving head fixture designed for large-scale events. Featuring a powerful LED array capable of producing over 22,000 lumens, it delivered sharp beams and vibrant colours that added depth and energy to TEDxManchester’s stage design.
Martin MAC Aura PXL
The Martin MAC Aura PXL is a wash light featuring individual pixel control for its main beam and Aura backlight pixels. With its ability to produce both narrow beams and wide washes, this fixture provided flexibility in creating visually engaging stage designs. Its RGBW colour mixing system delivered bright, vibrant hues that matched the event’s branding while maintaining a professional aesthetic.
Avolites Tiger Touch II Console
The Avolites Tiger Touch II is a professional-grade lighting console that combines power with portability. Equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen interface and advanced Titan software, it allowed the lighting team to program complex cues quickly and efficiently. The console’s ability to control up to 16 DMX universes made it indispensable for managing TEDxManchester’s intricate lighting setup.
