The Brief

The production design for "The Pisces World Tour" required a visually immersive environment to support the thematic narrative of the artist's latest work. The technical brief focused on the integration of large-scale LED surfaces, including an automated downstage curved wall.

The system needed to be scalable and robust enough for international touring schedules. Key requirements included high-resolution IMAG coverage for arenas and a lighting rig capable of delivering both punchy, high-energy sequences and subtle, atmospheric textures.

The Lighting System

The lighting rig was designed to deliver maximum impact and versatility, utilising a high density of Martin and SGM fixtures.

Flown Rig & Infrastructure

The primary flown rig featured 61 x Martin MAC Ultra Performance and 6 x Martin MAC Ultra Wash fixtures. These were complemented by 3 x Robe Forte units, 32 x SGM Q8 strobes, and 13 x Chauvet Strike Array 2 blinders.

The infrastructure relied on Tyler GT Pre Rig Truss and Total Fabrications OV40 for efficient load-ins. Total Fabrications Modular Ladders provided additional mounting positions for the vertical elements of the design.

Floor Package & Effects

The floor-mounted system included an additional 18 x Martin MAC Ultra Performance and 16 x SGM Q8 units. Atmospheric effects were provided by 3 x MDG TheOne generators, ensuring consistent haze and fog across various venue sizes.

Power & Control

Power distribution was managed via two StageSmarts C72tv and one StageSmarts C24 distro racks, providing a reliable backbone for the high-draw fixtures. The lighting system was operated via a grandMA3 control platform (detailed in the crew credits).

The Video System

The visual package centred on high-resolution LED surfaces and a professional broadcast camera chain, managed through a 4K production workflow.

LED Surfaces

The stage design featured several distinct Roe LED surfaces:

  • IMAGs: 112 panels of Roe BQ4 (4m x 7m each).
  • Upstage (US) Curved Wall: 102 panels of Roe V8T (18m x 5m).
  • Automated Downstage (DS) Curved Wall: 102 panels of Roe V8T (18m x 7m).

Cameras & PPU

The broadcast camera system utilised two Panasonic UC4000 broadcast cameras equipped with Canon UJ90 broadcast field lenses for long-throw coverage. This was supported by four Panasonic AW-UE160 PTZs and one Panasonic AW-UE70 PTZ for unobtrusive on-stage angles.

Signal switching and engineering were managed via a Ross Carbonite Ultra 4K PPU core. All screen content was driven by two Disguise GX3 media servers.

Rigging & Automation

The tour’s rigging infrastructure supported 66 motor points in total. This included six Kinesys automated points for moving the front curved LED wall. This automation allowed the production to shift the stage's visual geometry during the performance.

Outcome

The technical solution for "The Pisces World Tour" successfully integrated complex automation with high-fidelity video and lighting. The use of a 4K camera chain and Disguise media servers ensured consistent visual quality across all arena dates. Adlib’s coordination of the lighting, video, and rigging departments allowed for a streamlined touring operation and a high-impact audience experience.
