For his 2025 "Laughs Funny" arena tour, Jimmy Carr and his production team at Chambers Touring sought a full-scale technical solution capable of delivering consistency and quality across a wide variety of UK and Irish arena venues.
While the show centred around a single stand-up performer in an in-the-round format, the audio, lighting, video and rigging requirements were no less complex than those of a touring music act. The brief called for clarity of vocal reinforcement in large spaces, cinematic lighting, high-resolution video delivery, and a rigging infrastructure that would allow for fast, repeatable daily setups across the tour schedule.
Adlib provided a complete touring production package across all core disciplines, delivering the technical infrastructure and experienced crew to ensure every audience member, whether in the front row or at the back of the bowl, received the same high-quality experience.
A CODA PA system was selected for its compact footprint, and sonic clarity thanks to the system's phase linearity and highly coherent wavefront. Four hangs covered the long throws of the room (each comprising up to 12x AiRAY and 3x CiRAY downfill), while a secondary set of four side hangs (each comprising up to 8x AiRAY and 6x CiRAY) ensured 360-degree coverage. The interoperability of AiRAY, CiRAY, and a mixture of 90° and 120° Couplers lead to complete flexibility in system designs for each venue. Furthermore, four new HOPS10 loudspeakers were deployed on arms below the LED wall, completing coverage to near-field seats between hangs.
A DiGiCo Quantum 225 console with a pair of SD-Nano racks managed all FOH duties, offering flexible control and pristine signal paths. RF was handled using the Sennheiser 6000 Series, ensuring stable and high-fidelity wireless audio. On stage, L-Acoustics X12 monitors provided local reference.

Lighting was split across inner and outer trusses, with precision key lighting and powerful audience effects. The inner truss handled stage-focused fixtures including 12x Martin MAC Ultra Performance, 4x Robe Forte Robospots, and 16x Martin MAC Aura XIP wash fixtures.
Outer trusses housed 16x Martin MAC Ultra Wash and 16x Robe MegaPointe hybrid fixtures, supporting expansive beam and effect looks. 40x ROXX Cluster B2W blinders provided dramatic audience moments, while 19x Astera AX2 1m LED battens delivered precise front footlight and low-profile stage wash.
Lighting control was provided via a grandMA3 full-size console with grandMA3 light for backup, all running through Adlib control racks and supported by StageSmarts C72 distro. Haze and atmosphere were delivered with Cirro MK3 hazers and TMB ProFans.
Visuals played a key role in supporting Jimmy’s performance, with four large ROE Black Quartz 6m x 4m LED screens positioned to optimise visibility across arenas. Cameras included four Panasonic UC4000 4K channels paired with Canon UJ90 lenses for cinematic long-throw coverage, supported by a Panasonic UE160 PTZ camera at FOH.
Video control was driven by Adlib’s 4K PPU, built around a Ross Carbonite TouchDrive TD2S switcher and Ross Ultrix routing backbone.

The entire system was suspended from a combination of Tyler GT+ Pre-Rig and Total Fabs OV40 truss. Lifting and positioning was managed by EXE Rise D8+ hoists (1T and 2T), controlled via Digihoist motor controllers. The pre-rig structure enabled rapid daily deployment and ensured a safe, repeatable setup.
The Laughs Funny tour demonstrated how high production values can elevate a single-performer format into a fantastic arena experience. With Adlib supplying a tightly integrated audio, lighting, video and rigging package - Jimmy Carr’s show was delivered consistently and professionally night after night, ensuring the creative team was supported throughout.
