Happy International Women's Day! To celebrate this year, we opened our doors at our Liverpool HQ and invited female students from secondary schools, sixth form colleges and universities across the Liverpool City Region to take part in a truly special Open Day.
Across two sessions, our visitors had the chance to discover what our industry is all about through screenings of ‘What It Means: Conversations with Women Powering Adlib', followed by an all-female panel hosted by Nikki Chong.
This year's theme, #GivetoGain, gave us the perfect opportunity to host a panel discussion on "Kickstarting Your Career in Live Events" from a female perspective. A huge thank you to our panellists - Hannah Eakins, Briony Berning, Abbie Nesbitt, Jane Leah, Nicky Norman, and Anna-Sophie Mertens - for spending the day with us and sharing their invaluable advice and real-life industry experiences with our guests.
The panel was followed by live event demos in our Production Space where, with the help of our resident band, technicians, and engineers, students had the opportunity to see live technology systems in action. For many, it was their first glimpse into what truly makes a gig work - and they had plenty of hands-on opportunities to test out the kit and ask questions in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Seeing so many young people excited about the opportunities in the industry we call home was a truly rewarding experience. We hope we managed to inspire at least a few of them to pursue careers in this space. To top it all off, our visitors left with goodie bags generously provided by our industry partners - a small but fitting send-off for a memorable day.
Once again, a huge thank you to our wonderful panellists, industry partners, and the entire Adlib team for putting on such a fantastic event and showing the very best of our industry.
