A&H SQ+ Series Consoles
Allen & Heath has expanded its digital mixing portfolio with the launch of the SQ+ series, an upgraded iteration of the established SQ console line. The new range includes the SQ-5+, SQ-6+, and SQ-7+, all designed to deliver enhanced processing and user-interface capabilities within the same compact footprints of the original frames. This hardware development targets mid-format live sound, corporate AV, and installation applications, offering an updated aesthetic and an expanded core feature set.
Enhanced Processing and Control UI
The key architectural improvements within the SQ+ range centre on the integration of four RackUltra FX engines. This processing upgrade allows engineers to run high-fidelity effects and emulations natively without consuming standard channel processing resources. Visual interaction has also been updated via a new 9-inch touchscreen that features a redesigned dark graphical user interface (GUI). This high-contrast interface is optimised for low-light environments, improving readability for operators during live mixing conditions.
Physical Redesign and Aesthetics
Alongside the internal upgrades, the SQ+ series introduces a revised aesthetic design. The physical chassis has been updated with a completely black colour scheme, which includes black motorised faders. This darker visual profile provides a more discreet appearance at front-of-house positions and within permanent installations where equipment visibility needs to be minimised. The control layout remains familiar to users of the original SQ series, ensuring that transition times are negligible for existing operators.
Product Lineup and Scaling
The series scales across three distinct models to accommodate varying input and fader requirements. The compact Allen & Heath SQ-5+ Digital Mixing Console features 16 on-board preamps and 17 faders, making it suitable for space-critical applications or small-to-medium event setups.
Moving up the range, the Allen & Heath SQ-6+ Digital Mixing Console provides a wider interface with 24 local preamps and 25 faders. The largest model in the lineup, the Allen & Heath SQ-7+ Digital Mixing Console, expands physical control with 32 local inputs and 33 faders, serving as a comprehensive solution for larger channel counts. All models share the same upgraded processing core and are fully compatible with the existing ecosystem of Allen & Heath digital stageboxes.
