Karno SEPIA | Digital Control of Analogue Hardware
Adlib is pleased to introduce SEPIA by KARNO, a modular system designed to bridge the gap between traditional analogue processing and digital control workflows. SEPIA is an innovative platform that allows audio engineers to house high-end analogue hardware in a master host, providing digital control, recall, and automation over every parameter. This modular approach offers a significant advancement for both studio and live sound environments, enabling the use of boutique analogue signal paths with the efficiency and precision of a digital interface.
Modular Host and Signal Path
The core of the system is the SEPIA Host, which serves as the master frame for KARNO’s collection of analogue modules. These modules slot into the host, creating a customised signal chain tailored to the specific needs of the engineer. Unlike traditional rack hardware, the analogue circuits within these modules are digitally controlled, allowing for instantaneous recall of settings and the ability to automate parameters within a DAW or through a live console interface. The hardware maintains a 100% analogue signal path, ensuring that the harmonic characteristics and dynamic response of the original circuits are preserved.
Integration and Control Workflow
SEPIA is engineered for seamless integration into modern production environments. The host connects to control systems via standard networking protocols, making it possible to manage multiple units across a facility or tour rig. For the live sound engineer, this means the ability to incorporate high-end analogue compressors, EQs, and preamps into a show file without the physical constraints of traditional outboard racks. The digital control layer provides a level of consistency and reliability that has historically been a challenge when touring sensitive analogue equipment.

Scalability and Customisation
The modular nature of the KARNO platform ensures that the system can grow and adapt alongside a user's requirements. Engineers can choose from a variety of available modules, ranging from classic processing styles to modern circuit designs, and arrange them in any order within the host. This flexibility, combined with the precision of digital recall, makes SEPIA a versatile tool for demanding audio applications where sonic character and operational speed are equally important.
