Summer Round-Up

Adlib has enjoyed one of its’ busiest summers ever and whilst we kicked-off the year with three award nominations and hands full of work, the summer period has not disappointed and provided us with an opportunity to share a laugh and dance with over one million people all over the UK.

Comedy shows and arena tours in the midst of a hectic festival season kept our engineers busy and the public entertained,  check out Adlib’s highlights of the summer.

Summertime Ball

The first mark of the summer was in the form of the popular Capital FM Summertime Ball event that was staged at Wembley Stadium in London. Supplying audio for the 7th consecutive year, Adlib specified L-Acoustics PA system that delivered sound across the 80,000 capacity stadium that hosted biggest pop acts around.

Two of Adlib’s new DiGiCO SD12 consoles had their first stadium outing as they looked after FOH and monitors. Additionally, the new Sennheiser Digital 6000 wireless radio system noted its first very successful outing and performed flawlessly in a very busy show.

TRNSMT

With a great line up of performers, this inaugural event had a chance to establish itself as the main Scottish festival of the year, and with early bird tickets for next year already sold out, it might have done just that.

The TRNSMT festival was a resounding success and Adlib’s team applied their audio and lighting expertise to this new event in the midst of a busy festival season. Located in the heart of the city on Glasgow Green, the urban festival attracted over 120,000 music fans, who saw performances from the likes of Radiohead, Biffy Clyro, Kasabian, London Grammar, The 1975, Belle & Sebastian and many more.

Scarborough Open Air Theatre

Scarborough Open Air Theatre (OAT) enjoyed a record-breaking season as over 75,000 music fans attended shows at the arena this summer. Music fans from all over the UK had a chance to enjoy the performers such as Little Mix, Olly Murs, Kaiser Chiefs, Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, The Jacksons and many more.

The summer success at Scarborough OAT was possible thanks to Adlib’s installation of L-Acoustics KARA sound system and ongoing support in form of supplying additional equipment and crew, including consoles and monitor packages, on an ‘as and when’ required basis according to the individual event.

The final show of the summer saw the chart-topper, Jess Glynne, attract over 7,000 strong crowd at Europe’s largest open air theatre, with promoters, Cuffe and Taylor, already vowing for 2018 season to be even bigger and better.

Leeds / Reading

Another weekend in August saw Adlib, who have been involved with this historically significant festival since 2007,  supplying audio and lighting for the NME / BBC Radio 1 Stage. The iconic, tented stage featured the L-Acoustics K1 PA system set-up that supplied sound across the both sites to artistes such as Haim, Flume, Loyle Carner, Everything Everything, You Me at Six and Queens of the Stone Age and many more.

Certainly one of the highlights of the weekend was a surprise lunchtime set by the Queens of the Stone Age, who warmed up the Leeds crowd for two days of incredible music ahead.

Bestival

An award winning four-day boutique music festival set at the Lulworth Estate in Dorset was surely a right way to finish off the festival season in style. Bestival, which extends beyond the UK’s usual festival season, was set in a brilliant scenery and had a relaxed atmosphere on site, making the production team an absolute pleasure to work with.

Adlib were chosen to supply audio and lighting to the Main Stage for a second year in a row and with a stunning backdrop of the Lulworth Castle, it certainly is one to remember. Specified L-Acoustics K1 PA system delivered sound across the Lulworth Estate packed with glitter covered audience that enjoyed one last dance of the summer.
