All About Sound, Light & Visual Solutions – Adlib Open Day 2017

Over the course of two days, over 100 guests had a chance of entering the Adlib House and experiencing the ‘behind the scenes’ aspect of live event production industry in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The vast army of knowledgeable Adlib engineers were on hand to answer any questions regarding upcoming projects, and were ready to provide friendly advice if it was required. As we wanted our guests to get the true Adlib experience, we ensured that all our latest kit was ready for all hands-on needs. Our engineers were at the ready to share with our guests their knowledge and provide demonstrations that covered all aspects of production; cementing our status as sound, lighting, and video equipment specialists.

During the two days, this amazing technological display truly celebrated the in-house capabilities that Adlib now has in store. Without forgetting our roots, we’ve exhibited sound systems that can deliver the real ‘oomph’ to its audience. Highlighted systems included the L-Acoustics’ K2 Line Array, KS28 high-power subwoofer, our own Adlib AAFD3P Loudspeaker System and MP5 Stage Monitors, and the Coda’s TiRAY Line Array that is more suitable for smaller audiences. Mixing desks on show included Soundcraft’s Vi7000, and DiGiCo’s flagship SD7 and S31. With the latter being the latest addition to DiGiCo’s digital mixing consoles S Series family.

Whilst many of our visitors were busy playing with the mixing consoles on display, the lighting engineers in the room had a chance to get their hands on the lighting desks, which included the Tiger Touch II, MA Lighting’s dot2 and grandMA2, and the Hog’s Full Boar 4. These lighting controllers took charge of a full light wall display, that amongst others included Martin by Harman MAC Aura and Rush fixtures, as well as recently upgraded Clay Paky Mythos 2 spotlights.

Moving on to the more intimate setting, arguably the most impressive visual display was in the video room where visitors had a chance to live through the surreal experience of a white cube set coming to life through 3D Projection Mapping. A demo that was supported by our brand-new media servers. The showcase of in-house skill really shined through here, as the projection map from start to finish was developed by Adlib. However, the projection mapping display wasn’t the only highlight of our guests conversations, with the impressive video controllers and 4K cameras filling the room.

This two day event offered individuals from all sectors a chance to meet some of the brands, manufacturers and people with whom Adlib regularly collaborates.

The audio exhibitors in the room included: L-Acoustics, Coda Audio, DiGiCo, Soundcraft, DPA Microphones, Sony, Sennheiser, Shure, Canford Audio and Audio-Technica. Whilst lighting and visuals were covered by Martin by Harman, Chauvet, Robe, Aytron, Avolites, Clay Paky, MA Lighting and Panasonic. The rigging aspect of production was represented by Prolyte Group and Area 4 Industries.

With all the exhibitors set up, the everyday warehouse space was transformed into an informal trade show where Open Day guests had a chance to see the latest pieces of equipment, as well as have an informal chat about the company’s offerings.

Adlib’s MD, Andy Dockerty, has summarised the two day affair by saying:  “I think the whole event went incredibly well and we had people from all over the UK attend over the two days. A lot of the clients made the trip that possibly were not aware of all the other services which Adlib provide, and were suitably impressed. It was also great to have numerous students come along to get some hands on time with some of the latest pieces of tech in the industry.”
